1. General Information
JEDS Driving School acts as an agency introducing pupils to independent driving instructors. Driving Instructors are self-employed and all contracts for driving tuition are between the pupil and the instructor.
All of our self-employed instructors strictly adhere to the DVSA Code of Conduct, ensuring professionalism and integrity in every aspect of their teaching. Additionally, every instructor holds a DVSA Enhanced DBS certificate, providing reassurance of their commitment to safeguarding and maintaining the highest standards of trust and safety.
2. Eligibility for Driving Tuition
Tuition is available to clients who meet the following criteria:
Aged 17+ (or 16+ if receiving the higher rate of Disability Living Allowance - mobility
component).
Hold a valid UK driving licence, presented at the first lesson and periodically thereafter.
Meet medical fitness standards to drive, including being able to read a number plate at the required distance.
Notify the instructor or school immediately of:
Points, endorsements, bans, or convictions on your licence.
Any medical conditions or disabilities affecting your ability to drive.
3. Cancellations & Lesson Policies
Notice Period: At least 2 clear working days’ notice is required for cancellations.
Late Arrivals: Instructors will wait for up to 10 minutes. If late, inform the instructor, otherwise, the cancellation fee applies.
Unforeseen Events: Lessons may be rearranged or cancelled at short notice due to traffic, weather, or other uncontrollable circumstances.
4. Driving Tests
A 3-hour booking and an additional cost for the use of your instructor’s car is required on test day, covering pre-test practice, the test itself, and return travel.
Your instructor may withdraw the tuition vehicle for the test if:
You have not reached the required standard.
You are under the influence of alcohol, drugs, or medications affecting
your driving ability.
If the instructor’s car is unavailable due to a mechanical issue:
A retest will be booked at no extra cost to you.
Every effort will be made to provide notice and a replacement vehicle for tests.
5. Payments & Refunds
Payments must always be made upfront, keeping one lesson in credit.
Advance and block bookings must be used within 3 months.
Refunds will be calculated on a pro-rata basis at the normal hourly rate.
Refunds are not available for completed lessons or expired block bookings.
6. Lesson Vehicle Policies
Tuition vehicles may change permanently or temporarily due to mechanical issues. Replacement vehicles will be arranged, but notice may be limited for last-minute changes. JEDS is not responsible for losses (e.g., test fees) if you decline lessons in the replacement vehicle.
7. Responsibilities & Conduct
Pupils are responsible for any fines, penalties, or legal infringements incurred while driving.
Complaints should be raised with the instructor or driving school within 7 days of the incident.
JEDS instructors maintain a professional code of practice and uphold a smart appearance.

JYD Terms & Conditions
Please read these terms and conditions carefully before making a JEDS Young Driver booking. You should understand that by making a JYD booking you agree to be bound by these terms and conditions.
Please understand that if you refuse to accept these terms and conditions, you will not be able to make a booking.
All participants must be aged 14 and over. If aged 14-17 parental consent is required before booking.
We have public liability and indemnity cover and are legally insured to provide training sessions for 14+ year olds.
The participant is in good health and has eyesight at least to the standard required by law for driving. You must be able to read (with glasses or contact lenses, if necessary) a car number plate made after 1st September 2001 from 20 metres.
We reserve the right to refuse a JEDS Young Driver session if they suffer from any medical conditions that could affect their ability to drive, or if they are taking any medicines specifically stating that they should not drive. If you are in any doubt as to the effect of any condition or medication on the eligibility to participate then this should be raised prior to attendance. Nor should a participant take part in any driving activity if they are under the influence of alcohol or non-prescription drugs. If a JEDS Young Driver session is refused no refund will be available in this instance.
Should you require to cancel or re-schedule your JEDS Young Driver session for any reason, 3 clear days notice must be given or a loss of fee will be incurred regardless of the reason. We regret we are unable to refund any JEDS Young Driver sessions in the event that you do not give the required notice or if any kind of illness or accident prevents your attendance.
The JEDS Young Driver sessions run to a strict time schedule and participants are required to arrive promptly. Any late arrivals may find their JEDS Young Driver session forfeited with no refund available.
